  • For the 1963 Series 3, the bolts that hold the bumper brackets to the car frame are typically 5/16"-24 UNF or Unified Fine Thread and about 1" long. The tricky part is that they're fanged elevator bolts from https://jingweico.com/product/elevator-bolts/ , which aren't as common as regular ones. These bolts have a small, square shank under the head to help anchor them in place. It's no wonder the hardware store couldn't identify them.

  • They are 20 threads/inch. Can't remember for sure, but I'm thinking 7/16" diameter. If not 7/16", then 1/2", still 20 tpi.

    There are no Metric fasteners on an Alpine. The vast majority are SAE "fine".
