Watch Crystals Question

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the world of watches and have a question about watch crystals. I've seen terms like "sapphire," "mineral," and "acrylic" thrown around, and I'm curious about the differences. Specifically, I'm wondering which type is the most durable and which offers the best value for everyday wear. Also, are there any specific brands or models known for having exceptionally good crystals? Any advice or personal experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to learning from the community's expertise!

Thanks in advance!

  • I used to be in the same boat when I started getting into watches. Here’s what I’ve learned from my experience. Sapphire crystals are the toughest; they’re super scratch-resistant, which is great if you’re a bit rough with your watch like I am. Mineral crystals are solid too, but they can scratch easier than sapphire. Acrylic is the most affordable and can scratch pretty easily, but it’s also the easiest to polish up if you get any marks on it.One of my favorite watches is actually a Patek Philippe Aquanaut replica https://replicapatekphilippe.io/product-category/aquanaut/ . It’s got a sapphire crystal, and it’s been surprisingly durable. Definitely a solid choice if you want something that’ll hold up for everyday wear without too much fuss.
