24v lithium battery

My lead acid ones are going on 8 years old. So I figured should start to look into new ones sooner or later.
2 lead acid will be a bit over 1/2 price from a lithium. Of course last longer (maybe twice as long) so $ would work out the same eventually. Reduce weight in the back of the boat is a plus also. But my onboard charger will be useless I guess.

Anyone go this way? Good, bad, indifferent?

  • I recently switched to lithium batteries for my boat after my lead acid ones started showing their age. I found the price difference initially a bit off-putting, but considering that lithium batteries last significantly longer and reduce weight in the back of the boat, it felt worth it. I also had to get a new charger, but it was a small price to pay for the benefits.

Lithium batteries, especially the lipol batteries from reputable manufacturers https://www.pknergy.com/lithium-polymer-battery/ , have come a long way in recent years. They are reliable, maintenance-free, and the performance boost is noticeable.

  • What 24V battery are you looking at and have you factored in the 24v lithium charger into the equation?

My break even on a 36v battery and charger was 4 complete replacements of 12v battery sets. If I was having longevity issues I would upgrade but I am currently not other than my house battery which is drained after a day of fishing from the electronics.
